M. Carmen Mir is a urologist with interests in urologic oncology clinical and translational research and medical education. She is the Coordinator of the Urologic Oncology Section at La Ribera University Hospital in Valencia, Spain. Dr Mir earned her medical degree in 2004 at the University of Barcelona in Spain; in 2012 she was awarded a PhD on surgery by the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB), for which she received the highest commendation. Between 2005 and 2010 she completed urology residency training at the Vall d’Hebron Hospital, UAB, then completed a clinical fellowship in urologic oncology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH, USA, through the Society of Urologic Oncology. Dr Mir was a recipient of the La Caixa Foundation Award for overseas training.
Dr Mir’s research activity encompasses both translational and clinical aspects of uro-oncology and she is Principal Investigator on multiple phase 2 and 3 uro-oncology clinical trials. She is a member of Scientific Committee Office of the European Association of Urology (EAU), a board member of the European Section of Onco-Urology (ESOU), and Associate Editor of both European Urology Open Science and Journal of Urology.
