Alexandre Zlotta is Director of Uro-Oncology at the Murray Koffler Urologic Wellness Centre of the Mount Sinai Hospital, Professor at the Department of Surgery (Urology) of the Division of Urology at the University of Toronto, and a surgeon at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network in Toronto, ON, Canada. Dr. Zlotta is also an Associate Member at the Lunenfeld Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI) at Mount Sinai Hospital, and Professor at the European School of Urology of the European Association of Urology (EAU), and past Director of the Uro-Oncology Fellowship Program.
As a clinician, Dr Zlotta specializes in the treatment of genitourinary cancers, with a particular focus on cancers of the bladder and prostate. As a research scientist, Dr Zlotta has acted as principal (or co-principal) investigator for several large-scale international research projects, and has established several multi-institutional, international research programs; he has authored more than 300 scientific articles, is former Associate Editor (and current consulting editor) for the journal European Urology, Associate Editor for the journals Frontiers in Oncology and Bladder Cancer among being on several international editorial boards. He also serves on the editorial boards of several leading peer-reviewed journals.
As an authority on the treatment of genitourinary cancers, Dr Zlotta has served as a board member for the Scientific Committee of the EAU, the EUA Section of Oncological Urology, the Scientific Committee of the Belgian Association of Urology, and the Belgian National College of Oncology; he is also a member of the National Cancer Institute of Canada Prevention Initiative, and a member of the Steering Committee of the North American Bladder Cancer Think Tank of the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN).
He has been the recipient of numerous international awards, including the prestigious EAU Crystal Matula Award in 2000 and the EAU Platinum Award in 2012.
