Richard Cathomas is deputy head of oncology/haematology at the Kantonsspital Graubünden in Chur, Switzerland, and an associate professor at the University of Zurich (UZH) in Zurich, Switzerland. He earned his MD at UZH, and completed his oncology training at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust in Southampton, UK. As a dedicated clinician and clinical researcher, Dr Cathomas has acted as coordinating investigator for several national and international trials in the fields of prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and cancer of the testis, and served as President of the Genitourinary Cancers Project Group of the Swiss Working Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK; 2013 to 2018). Dr Cathomas is a member of the European Association of Urology (EAU) guidelines committee for muscle-invasive and metastatic bladder cancer, a former member of several scientific committees of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), and an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), and the Swiss Society of Medical Oncology (SGMO). He has been a board member of SAKK since 2018 As a medical oncologist specialized in the treatment of urological cancers, Dr Cathomas has published extensively in his field, and is a regular contributor to events and symposia at both the national and international level.
