Professor Michael Thomas is the Head of the Department of Thoracic Oncology and Internal Medicine at Thoraxklinik-Heidelberg, Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany. He is also a member of the board of directors of the National Center for Tumor Diseases, Heidelberg, Germany and deputy spokesperson in the Steering Board of the CRISP register.
A member of numerous professional societies (including ESMO, ASCO, and IASCL), his specialisms include: the conception, conduction and coordination of clinical trials; biomarker exploration in the field of lung cancer, and the impact of palliative care interventions throughout the lung cancer disease trajectory. Professor Thomas has also chaired the German Lung Cancer Cooperative group and has received the John Mendelsohn – Clinical Trial Award of the German Cancer Society.
